Tuscany has a way of encouraging you to slow down. Rolling hills, ancient stone villages, rows of cypress trees and vineyards stretching towards the horizon create a landscape that feels both timeless and effortlessly beautiful. Whether you’re lingering over a long lunch in a sunlit piazza or watching the evening light turn the countryside golden, it’s a place that invites you to savour the simple pleasures and embrace a gentler pace of life.
Our time in Tuscany was defined by simply pootling from place to place in a tiny Fiat Panda, winding along cypress-lined roads and through sun-drenched countryside. With no rush and no real agenda beyond exploring, we meandered between the hilltop towns and cities that make this corner of Italy so special. From the peaceful charm of Lajatico and the ancient streets of Volterra to the medieval towers of San Gimignano, every stop had something unique to discover. We wandered through the grandeur of Siena, soaked up the golden light of Pienza, spent a day enjoying the buzz of Florence, and finished with the elegant avenues and vineyards of Bolgheri. Travelling slowly in the little Panda felt perfectly in keeping with Tuscany itself – relaxed and full of character!
